TÂNIA LEAL WATERING ARTISTIC SEEDS!
TÂNIA LEAL is Brazilian, born in Londrina and now living in Curitiba. Already as a child, she had this passion for drawing and painting which she developed more seriously once she became an adult. Art history held her interest because it involved her emotionally into the lives of artists such as Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec, VanGogh… Tânia also had a passion for Modigliani’s work which inspired her in her female figures with their long neck and “lost” look! Painting brings her a lot of satisfaction. She finds painting and teaching allows her to appreciate many different types of paintings, styles and techniques as well as meeting people who develop and appreciate this form of art.
– Sou brasileira, e nasci em Londrina, uma cidade importante do norte do Estado do Paraná-Brasil. Vivo em Curitiba, a capital, desde 1984. Já em criança, eu tinha esta paixão pelo desenho e pela pintura. Comecei a desenvolver, mais seriamente, depois de adulta. Mas sempre sempre foi marcante o interesse e a facilidade aos assuntos artísticos e as coisas em que fosse preciso “manualidade”.
Me formei em Artes Plásticas, Pela “Universidade Para o Desenvolvimento do Estado de Santa
Catarina” (UDESC)(1977). A história da arte me encantava e me envolvia emocionalmente com a vida dos artistas,como GAUGUIN, TOULOUSE-LAUTREC,VANGOGH… Tinha paixão pelo trabalho de MODIGLIANI ,e me inspirava sempre em suas figuras femininas de longos pescoços e olhares “perdidos”. Talvez por isto a minha tendência em pintar figuras. Desejo continuar pintando sempre, porque é o que realmente me dá mais satisfação. Pintar e ensinar.E conhecer os mais variados tipos de pinturas,estilos , técnicas .E também, pessoas que desenvolvem e apreciam esta arte .

No. 1) What is art to and for you? (in general and personally)
Art is the life portrait. It’s the document of a life time…It’s the best way of understanding between all kinds of people and cultural levels. It’s my liberation…
N º 1) O que é arte e para você? (GERAL)
A arte, é o “Retrato da vida”. È o documento de uma época… È a melhor forma de compreenção entre os povos de todos os niveis culturais.
(PESSOAL) A arte para mim, é a minha libertação.
No. 2) What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from lots of different moments. Most frequently when I admire other artists’ work and they touch me somehow. When I see beautiful paintings I feel like working and painting too.
No. 2) O que te inspira?
Minha inspiração,surgem em vários e diversos momentos. Um deles mais frequente,vem, de quando vejo trabalhos de outros artistas , que me emocionam.Ao ver pinturas lindas, sinto vontade de trabalhar e de pintar também…
No. 3) When you are creating, painting, where does it take you? I mean where does your mind travel?
Normally I paint female figures. I like their positions and delicate postures…the look in their eyes, the clothes they wear and I often like to show how they feel inside. I think that in our society women are inferiorized. I’m from a generation when the women weren’t valued. Maybe this feeling blooms on my paintings even when I’m not thinking about it. They end up a bit sad and in lonely moments.
No. 3) Quando você está criando, pintura, onde você leva? Quero dizer de onde vem a sua mente viajar?
Normalmente pinto figuras femininas. Gosto das posições e da delicadeza de suas posturas…dos olhares, das roupas que vestem, e normalmente gosto de mostrar uma situação
interior.Creio que as mulheres são um pouco inferiorizadas na sociedade em que vivemos.Sou da época onde não eram muito valorizadas. Talvez este sentimento aflore em minhas pinturas, até mesmo sem querer. Elas acabam se mostrando tristonhas .e em momentos de abandonol.
No. 4) Do you think painting, music and health are related and if so, how?
Yes. Because music, paintings and all forms of art are for our feelings, our emotions. When we paint, we hear, we look at art we feed our soul…We become happy. It’s proved that a happy person is physically and psychologically healthier.
No. 4) Você acha que música, pintura e saúde estão relacionados e se sim, como?
Sim…Porque a musica , a pintura, as artes em geral, são para os sentimentos. Para nossas emoções.
Ao executar,ao ouvir, ao admirar,alimentamos nossa alma ..Nos injetamos alegria .E alguém feliz, pode se beneficiar comprovadamente ,fisica e psicológicamente .de boa saúde..
No. 5) Como você se sente quando você está pintando?
…È o meu canal para uma espécie de “desconecção ” de tudo que me rodeia …
É a minha “ hora do recreio”!… È uma espécie de “controle remoto” que me deixa sempre no canal mais agradável e envolvente, onde apenas eu comando! È meu descanso Não penso em absolutamente nada quando estou pintando…Apenas ali…nas cores, nas formas, e no resultado da minha emoçao.
No. 6) Do you identify with your subject and if so, on what level?
When I was a kid, at school, I always stepped up when the subject was art. I was often chosen to be part of the work groups. My job was the paintings, the covers, the drawings. I was welcome even though I wasn’t that good on the other subjects. I’ve got involved on artistic issues and when I was drawing and painting I discovered a whole new world in front of me and the pleasure that it brings to me. I had a very important master and tutor who saw me and treated me like an artist and then I got confidence little by little… Today, as a tutor, I say to my pupils that we all have a seed buried inside our hearts. If they came to me it’s because we are going to paint together. The seed just needs watering!
No. 6) Você se identifica com o assunto e em caso afirmativo, em que nível?
Quando criança,na escola, sempre me destacava nas artes.Era sempre escolhida para os grupos de trabalhos.Me encarregavam sempre das capas e das pinturas e ilustrações que precisavam…Eu era bem-vinda, mesmo não sendo das melhores alunas nas outras matérias..!!
Fui me descobrindo e me vendo sempre nos assuntos artisticos e ao desenhar e pintar, descobria um novo mundo à minha frente.e o prazer que me proporcionava
Tive uma mestra muito importante à qual me viu pela primeira vez como uma artista e me tratava como tal. Fui adquirindo segurança aos poucos…Hoje como mestra digo sempre aos meus alunos…que temos uma “semente” enterrada em nosso peito! Se chegaram até a mim, é porque vamos pintar juntos! Esta semente apenas precisa de água!
No. 7) Under what conditions do you work best?
I have my atelier at home. My space. I like painting at night because everything is quiet and i don’t have to stop working because of any distractions. I like being alone and in silence.
N o. 7) Em que condições você trabalha melhor?
Em minha casa tenho o meu atelier. O meu espaço. Gosto de pintar durante à noite, porque tudo fica em silêncio e não preciso interromper meu trabalho com outros assuntos.Gosto de estar só e em silêncio.
No. 8) Does painting help you connect with your “higher self” whatever that is for you?
Yes .. painting helps me connect with my “higher self”
I think we all have something very good within our “BEING”. Something divine … In “our case”, it is art. I believe it is a gift of God, of nature. It is a “GIFT”.
N o. 8) A pintura ajudá-lo a se conectar com seu “eu superior” seja lá o que é para você?
Sim…A pintura me ajuda a me conectar com o meu “eu superior” Creio que todos temos algo de muito bom dentro de nosso “SER”. Algo divino…No “nosso caso”, é a arte. Acredito ser um presente de DEUS, da natureza. É um “DOM “.
No. 9) How do you feel about creativity in the public school system?
As for public schools, I’m not paying attention, since I teach only adults in my studio and in a private school in the city where I live.
I have students up to 80 years … My work covers certain occupational activities for people who love painting, but who during his or her life has had no opportunity to develop this. Maybe even by their own responsibilities and difficulties never allowed “time to accomplish these desires” . I just benefit from this interaction and the joy to see these people when they finish an art work and take home something beautiful and nice to show their friends and family and feeling so valued, worthwhile!
N º 9) Como você se sente sobre a criatividade no sistema deescola pública?
Quanto às escolas públicas, eu não estou acompanhando , uma vez que dou aulas apenas para adultos.em meu ateliê e em uma escola particular na cidade onde vivo. Tenho alunas até de 80 anos…Meu trabalho abrange uma certa atividade ocupacional para pessoas que amam a pintura , mas que durante a vida não tiveram oportunidade de desenvolver. Talvez pelas próprias responsabilidades E mesmo por dificuldades nunca tiveram um “tempo para realizar tais desejos” Acabo eu, sendo beneficiada por este este convívio e em poder ver a alegria destas pessoas ao terminarem uma tela e levarem para suas casas algo bonito e agradável para mostrar aos seus amigos e familiares, e sentindo-se então valorizados!!
No.10) In your opinion, what would be a simple solution to improve creativity in the public school system?
Familiarize the student since childhood, with the art and provide a way to expose each child to their feelings through painting, music, theater, etc. and show how much it is pleasant and precious communication thus . Making it … almost as fun. Thus developing communication between people to live a healthier and more interesting future.
No. 10) Na sua opinião, qual seria uma solução simples paramelhorar a
criatividade no sistema público de ensino?
Proporcionar ao aluno, desde a infância , uma certa “familiaridade “ com a arte e de facilitar uma maneira de cada criança expor seus sentimentos por intermédio da pintura, musica, teatro :etc e mostrar o quanto é agradável e preciosa a comunicação desta forma,. Tornando quase como…um divertimento. Desenvolvendo assim a comunicação entre as pessoas para viverem um futuro mais interessante e saudável.
No.11) What are you hoping to convey through your art?
I speak of my “I” through my pictures, my moments lived and what goes into my soul.
I hope to convey happiness and also develop the imagination of each viewer, thus creating other stories inspired by my paintings through my strokes … thus giving continuity …. recreating in mind, other dreams … these, materializing into new frames as a “stream of dreams”!,,,,
No.11) O que você está esperando para transmitir através de sua arte?
Falo do meu “EU” por intermédio de minhas figuras, de meus momentos vividos e o que vai dentro de minha alma. Espero transmitir felicidade e também desenvolver a imaginação de cada espectador , criando então outras historias inspirados em minhas pinturas , através das minhas pinceladas … dando assim uma continuidade….recriando em mentes , outros sonhos…estes , se materializando em novos quadros como uma “corrente de sonhos”!!!,,,,
No. 12) What is the best advice you could give an art teacher?
Be genuine and generous …be disengaged, open to learn all I(student) really know. I had a very important master in my life. And one day, she told me she would teach me everythng she’d like to have been taught herself!!
I learned how to prepare a resume. I didn’t even know even know I had to have one to introduce myself! She knew how to convey to me her love of art and how I admired her, absorbing and identifying myself every day, in every class … and now, after you so long, I see how it was important in my life being her apprentice and as I reflect on it, I seek to apply the same way to my teachings. I believe that this is the way!
No. 12) qual é o melhor Conselho que você poderia dar um professor de arte?
Ser verdadeiro e generoso…Ser desprendido…transmitir para o que aprende tudo o que realmente sabe. Eu tive uma mestra muito importante na minha vida. E um dia ela me disse que me ensinaria tudo o que ela gostaria de que tivessem ensinado a ela! Aprendi desde como preparar um currículo.Não sabia nem mesmo que era preciso ter um para me apresentar! Ela sabia me transmitir seu amor pela arte e como a admirava fui absorvendo e me identificando a cada dia, a cada aula …e hoje, depois te tanto tempo, vejo como ela foi importante na minha vida de aprendiz e me espelhando nela, procuro aplicar da mesma forma os meu ensinamentos. Acredito ser este o caminho!!
