SARA DICIERO’S IDEAL WORLD OF CREATION!

By likemindblog

Sara-2009-4

She lives, paints and dreams in Buenos Aires .Argentina.  SARA DICIERO’ s artwork has a creative originality. Since 1999, she has been experimenting with the idea of lighting the artwork from behind. She uses oil paint on resin sheets to create the support of her “luminous” boxes or backlights, which she then exhibits in groups as installations.

Sara, thank you so much for accepting to participate in this project and also for doing this in two languages.  Your art is wonderful and I invite all to discover this wonderful artist from the South!  The original Spanish version follows immediately after the English version.

No. 1)  What is art to and for you?

Art is all emotion, all sensation and feeling that is expressed with the corresponding technique in any discipline.  In painting, the art is expressed with color, composition, shape, texture, line, gesture, light, transparency, etc. ….  Art is a wonderful thing that helps us travel through life better.

No. 2)  What inspires you?SARA D. PVuelojubiloso

The acquisition of new colors of tubes of oils motivates me to develop new works.  Discovering new material makes me want to try them.  It also influences the restrained passion that one needs to somehow externalize in my case painting.  Images can appear at any time, but that one must be connected with the work, should be open to new experiences, one must work daily to bring the mind into creative orbit.

It is true that information is appropriate, contact with other artists, visit their workshops, go to both current and historical exhibitions, see art books but also to have a desire to create. It is not easy to describe the moment, a number of variables must converge.

Inspiration is a spark, a magic moment that one must capitalize: When an idea appears, it is imperative that the artist develop a long series of works with this theme, the artist must express that idea.

No. 3), When you are creating, painting, where does it take you, where does your mind travel?

It is mandatory and a pleasure to listen to music when I paint, I usually listen to opera with delight. That transmits a lot of energy to me, it SARA D. P3176bistransports me to an ideal world of creation.  Luciano Pavarotti is always with me.  I could not say where my mind travels. I am very attentive to the color scheme and new and varied textures, then the contrasts and transparencies, I am very aware of certain essential points for an artwork to be always better.  When I start a new painting, I will try to observe what I’m thinking about.

No. 4)  Do you think visual art, music and health are related and if so, how do you see this?

Naturally for me visual art and music are deeply intertwined. Music creates deep emotions in my sensibility and that drives me to determine which way to go with that first painting. I develop automaticity: that is, I put the stain on the fabric and from there I continue to work according to what that spot suggests. Therefore, music has a great influence on my painting.

As for health, I could not affirm it. But I think the mood of a person influences the development of a painting. The color, brightness, transparency, the stroke are well known indicators of a person’s energy.

No. 5)  When you are creating, painting, how do you feel?

It is a succession of sensations. Before starting to paint I might be tense, but as I stain the canvas, covering the whole canvas with oil, I start to feel like an invisible barrier gradually breaks down, and I begin to relax and at one point I feel very happy. That can happen on the first day or after several days. I work on more than one painting at a time, there are 5 or 6  in progress at the same time.

Sometimes, I start a painting and progress a lot on the first day, on that day I am happy because I feel that I dominate the painting.  When I do notSARA D. S14F11cd dominate the artwork, I do not feel relieved and feel uncertain.   When I start with the details, when the textures appear, it can take two weeks or a month before the work is done but this is the stage of resolution, I do not have to change anything important, but I have to adjust only specifics, I am happy because I know that an acceptable work is about to be born …

No. 6)  Do you identify with your paintings, your art?

Absolutely. I just paint what I feel inside of me. I am consistent and true! Last year I made an order of two artworks, exactly two the same and I suffered a lot, I was not free because the subject was not what I usually paint. The works were a real success for the buyer and so on, but I found it difficult to do these two paintings while creating others with my own image or theme.

No. 7)When do you do your best work? (environment)

I always paint in my studio alone. I love music, perhaps more than painting. I put a CD of Pavarotti, an opera in general: Rigoletto, La Traviata, La Boheme, etc…and I am full of energy, and it gives me much strength and encourages me to paint full time, fully concentrated.

No. 8)  Do you find that painting helps you connect with your “Higher Self” whatever that may be for you?

Not necessarily. When I paint I think, I connect with my obsessions and that amuses me. Suddenly I feel that there is a smile on my face and I enjoy being in that moment. While I paint details it may happen that some unresolved issue begins to haunt my head, or else generates an imaginary conversation with someone close to me.  That amuses me a lot, occupies my mind and makes me advanced a lot, it’s rewarding, it’s enriching … ufff….. this question it forces me to concentrate hard to achieve a correct  answer!

SARA D. FNo. 9)  Many people say school kills creativity.  How do you feel about that?

I can not answer exactly what is happening today in schools, but I think there’s some kind of rigid teaching that blocks creativity, preventing any kind of spontaneous expression, calling students back to order when they stray from rigorous traditional drawing or painting, when they want express  themselves, just when they want to create!

No. 10)  What would you see as a very simple solution?

I am no specialist in the subject, but I understand that from an early age, children should be allowed to freely express artistically. To do this I believe that teachers or art teacher, should simply correct minor errors but they should accept children’s style. And only in specific classes such teachers should teach traditional drawing or painting, making it clear that there are many styles that are already classified in the History of Art and others being created. These new styles can be created by the students of today.  There should be free painting classes and traditional painting classes.

No. 11)  Is there a particular visual artist that has greatly influenced you or that you admire mostly in your life?

I lived in Spain for three years at the beginning of my career and  I think  transparencies and glazes seen in my paintings were imitated for me  from the Spanish artists.

I admire Van Gogh and for that reason I built one installation with 9 backlights inspired by his painting.  I think I’ve taken a bit from some painters and gradually  I was creating my own style without forcing it; that style came naturally. Today and for some time now, my painting is recognized.  People who see my artwork, know that it is from me.

No. 2)  Qué te inspira?

Descubrir nuevos materiales me lleva a desear probarlos.

Luciano Pavarotti me acompaña siempre.

No necesariamente.

Bravo Artista!!

Choose materials for the furniture and other furnishings which are from sustainable resources, like bamboo, reprocessed or recovered
wood. Reusing glass block is a superb way to raise the worth of this excellent, yet extremely efficient material.
Some are regular rectangles with modern frames, while with others the mirror itself is curved using a variety of curved and irregular frames.

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
