“I’ve been painting all my life.  In my head.  And in my throat.  The possibility to use shapes and forms, hasn’t occur to me for a lifetime.  What I could do, was fantasise.  But the School for Journalism
didn’t have a place for me, twice.  We made music.  In a small basement.
Very loud.  Feeling the bones rattle.

Turnaround fair ’77,  I guess.Happiness: wife, kid, own business, house, jobs.

No painting, no writing, nosch-difficultlove-560 music.  Creatively a little dead.
And blinkers.  Own choice, fair is fair.

Pauli P and the reborn faith.  Lots of music.  Four times a week.
Hallelujah.
Melodies and lyrics.  Good old times and missed opportunities.
Never too late to start.  Mirrors and biggest fans.

A new milennium.  And everything stopped.
It was good, but enough.  A fat line under the old life.
Wife, house, job…out the window.

Reincarnation with Mia.  And coming home with Patricia.
Tataaaaaa !!!!
Painting… creating, every day.  Forms and shapes of the inside on canvas.  Living and being aware of everything.
Trying to judge nobody,
since we’re all part of the whole, that is GOD.”

Nothing to add to Paul’s word except thank you so much!

No. 1)  What is art, painting to and for you?

Art is the ultimate expression to do what I really want to do.

sch-centreofall-540The reason why I get out of bed, the fulfillment of my life that I’ve been looking for for 45 years, before I found it.

 No. 2)  What inspires you?

Everything that you also experience in daily life. What happens in the world I live in and what people do to each other.

All human emotions.

And often just the look at my stack of pots of bright coloured paint.

They scream to me ‘canvas canvas!’.

No. 3)  When you are painting, creating, where does it take you?  Where does your mind (spirit) travel?

I’m only busy with the colors, strokes and textures.

Everything has to be right.

The thoughts come afterwards, when I look at the result.

No. 4)  Do you think visual art, music and health are related, and if so how do you see that?

Yes. When somebody can express himself in whatever form, he’s truly himself.

All emotions show in a pure creation. An artist can’t hide them.

An d when they come forsch-huizen-560ward, you can deal with them.

Sharing joy,  grief, anger or whatever.

No. 5)  When you are painting, creating, how do you feel?

At home. In myself. In the place I belong, in this phase of my life.

No. 6)  Do you identify with your subject and if so, on what level?

Not in the process of making. Then I identify myself with the colors.

Afterwards comes the identification with the subject.

No. 7)  In what context do you work the best?  (alone, night, day, music, silence etc…)

Daytime and daylight, bright but no direct sunlight on the canvas.

And silence.

No. 8)  Does painting help you connect with your higher self, whatever that is for you?

sch-politicians-800 Yes always. For it is the ultimate expression of my inner self.

No. 9)  Do you feel school systems help develop creativity or rather stifles it?

Most school systems find numbers and dates far more important than the development of the person and the role of recognizing- and dealing with emotions.

No 10)  If school systems stifle creativity, what would be in your opinion, a simple solution?

Make education more personal. Everybody has his own goal in life. Finetune education on that personal goal.

Paul, I want to thank you for doing this project with me.  You convey a lot in a few words.  Thank you for your wonderful art and until we meet again, keep well, my friend!

Your short story about yourself is many people’s story. The difference being some people to turn around and change direction, others resist change and end up dying in their soul! Your must be someone fun to be around, as colourful as your art! Congratulations!

Love your colorful, playful story and art!! Much to learn about following the moments whatever and wherever they lead….Thank you for sharing them both…… Enjoyed.. Cecelia

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
