CICILY ELENOR BACKSTROM: True artist without outside influence, her goal is only to create. Her art is direct, impulsive, experimental, always transmitting a message, a thought, a feeling. She has the ability to find balance between extremes, from organized to chaotic, from orderly to spontaneous, but always one can feel her energy, her emotion, her love of discovery!

1) What is art to and for you ?

Art is fundamentally essential to me and Uni Form Husar xxx an inspiration.

2) What inspires you ?

Different things, an impulsive thought, sometimes a sudden need to test something.

3) When you are painting, creating, where does it take you, where does your mind (spirit) travel ?

It gives me a sudden inclination to bring about something new and “never-seen” before. I want to give the onlooker my energy and power.

4) Do you feel visiual art, music and health are related and if so, how?

Visiual art and music definitely have a healthy power. They are both something magnificent, maybe a gift from above…

5) When you are painting, creating, how do you feel ?

I feel focused, intense and full of hope, curious about what will happen.

6) Do you identify with your paintings, your subject and if so, on what level, please elaborate ?

My works are the results of my inner deep down energy, so yes I identify with my pictures to the extent that I have a hard time when somebody wants to buy some of my paintings.

7) When do you do your best work ?

When I have had a long break and when my batteries are charged.

8) Does painting help you connect with your “higher self” whatever that is for you ?

Hard to know, maybe it does. I´m seeking contact with my authentic ego, a genuine feeling deep down, to find a very special moment.

9) Why do you paint abstract ? What is it for you ? Could you elaborate?

Abstract painting is for me a way to give the onlooker my spontaneity and give myself something unexpected. I like the movement, the structure and colors, I never imitate an external reality.

The abstract painting makes me free. I want to go further on and on …
