COCO MOBULI REVEALING A DEEPER TRUTH(2)

COCO MOBULI was born in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the 24th of December 1974. He enjoys painting every day life in Africa, especially images of women, folklore, and as you will notice, the spiritual aspects coupled with a strong cultural faith in the hereafter ever present in his work . He is very much interested in the transcendental links between visual art and the natural environment. He is an incredible artist. This article was done with via his representative in France, a translator and Coco. I was so impressed with the strength and dignity coming through his work that I felt compelled to introduce this wonderful artist to all of you. This is part two of his article.

No.7) Under what conditions do you work best?

My outer environment as well as my own feelings strongly affect the outcome of my work. In fact to insure that my inspiration works better and to do good work I need a peaceful environment inside and out, enough light without being too bright and proper tools to work with.

No. 7) Dans quelles conditions faites-vous votre meilleur travail?

L’environnement extérieur ainsi que les dispositions intérieures de mon physique Coco Mobuli b conditionnent de beaucoup la réussite de mes œuvres. En effet pour mieux réussir mes œuvres, pour que mon inspiration fonctionne au mieux, j’ai besoin du calme tant extérieur qu’intérieur, d’une lumière suffisante mais pas trop piquante et enfin d’un matériel adéquat en bonne état.

No. 8) Does painting help you connect with your “higher self”, whatever that is for you?

Painting is just one the many forms of communication. And the artist’s work is really achieved in as much as the viewer relates to it, and his or her reaction of acceptance, admiration or inspiration. My own psychology helps me imagine the image. I then try to give it form required in search of aesthetic beauty. Therefore it is from the inner self, the higher self that we communicate to the viewer through our work.

No. 8) Est-ce que peindre vous aide à communiquer avec votre “Je” supérieur?

La communication est une notion justement plurisectorielle couvrant un domaine assez vaste dans lequel la peinture est l’une des voies d’expressions. Et l’artiste peintre ne réussit vraiment son œuvre dans la mesure ou, à travers le feedback, le public capte la communication et réagit par son acceptation, son admiration ou son exaltation.

Ma psychologie m’aide à concevoir l’image et ensuite “je” m’attèle à lui donner une forme plastique (œuvre) qu’il soumet aux exigences de la recherche de la beauté esthétique. Bref, au départ du “moi” intérieur, au départ du je supérieur l’on aboutit à communiquer au public par la voie de l’art pictural.

No. 9) How do you feel about creativity in the public school system?

From my own observations, creativity is weak, almost non existant in the school system in general as it depends on and is conditioned by the environment, the education system and the educator or teacher. No matter how much talent and potential one is born with, teachers, educators even the whole education program needs to recognize, develop and support creativity in the student and encourage one to reach his or her full potential.

No. 9) Que pensez-vous de la créativité dans le milieu scolaire public?

D’après mon constat, cette créativité parait faible très peu manifeste dans le milieu scolaire en général puisqu’elle est fonction et conditionnée par l’environnement, l’orientation de l’éducation et de l’éducateur ou formateur. L’on peut bien être avec des dons innés, de sensibilités à la créativité, encore faudra-t-il que l’éducateur ou le formateur, voir même le programme éducationnel viennent au secours pour réveiller cette sensibilité endormie, cette créativité encore passive et dormant.

No 10) In your opinion, what could be a simple solution to improve creativity in the public school system?

To improve creativity in the schooling system, any educational program should take this aspect into consideration at the earliest age. Thus, a child with a given talent could benefit from an early awakening of his or her artistic sensitivity. A child deprived of artistic talent could also benefit from such a program, his or her interest for human creativity being stimulated at an early stage and touching all five (four?) interdependent dimensions of his or her personality: physical, intellectual, psychological and social.

No. 10) Selon vous, que pourrait être une solution simple pour améliorer la créativité dans le milieu scolaire public?

Pour améliorer la créativité dans le milieu scolaire public je pense que le programme éducationnel devrait s’en soucier dès la prime enfance. Il sera question de réveiller très tôt la sensibilité à la créativité chez l’enfant bénéficiaire des dons innés. Pour les enfants non gratifiés de ces dons, ce programme éducationnel approprié va susciter en eux très tôt, le gout de l’observance et la sensibilité à la créativité de l’homme, dans sa personnalité à 5 dimensions toutes interdépendantes: physique, intellectuelle, psychologique et sociale.

No. 11) What message if any, are you hoping to transmit to the public through your art?

Visual arts serve me as a means of communication and my message carries the ambition of liberating humankind of it’s«antidestiny» and of it’s historicity. A message emanating from my transfigured self, projected onto the world that harbours and surrounds me.

No. 11) Quel message s’il y a lieu, espérez-vous transmettre par le biais de votre art?

Pour moi l’art pictural me sert de voie de communication et mon message se dote de l’ambition de libérer l’homme de son antidestin et de son historicité. Un message venant de moi transfiguré qui se projette sur le monde qui m’héberge et m’entoure (mon moi et mon supérieur)
