… IS LIKE A BUS DRIVER!
ALAIN PLOUFFE’s been drumming on anything he can find since he was just a kid. One of his teachers said he’d make him the best drummer he could be. And Alain is an amazing drummer. When he plays with the guys, they never know where he’s going to take them. He likes to explore, reach new heights and… travel bravely into spaces where no man has gone before…
Alain has been kind enough to put into words his personal philosophy that he lives by. He’s a man who walks his talk. Here are his answers:
No.1) What is music to and for you?
Life, everything that lives reveals a symphony. We must pause a moment and listen. Not everyone expresses it through a conventional instrument but everyone plays, whether with a brush, a pencil, a tractor, etc. …
Everyone plays, your heart beats to a rhythm, you walk, your eyelids open, close, you speak, it’s rhythm and melody. Everyone has his own way and each has a way that cannot always be described.
For me, music keeps the child inside of me alive and active. It helps me develop my telepathic abilities even more, makes the present a profoundly happy moment!
No. 2) What inspires you?
SPIRIT : With Spirit anything is possible and everything is inspirational.
When I first started playing drums, I felt a deep sense of joy, accompanied with a sort of handicap which I overcame by educating myself, by listening to experienced musicians and studying their concept. I realized that I had my place and that it was my own style I needed to develop.
Over time, I opened up to a certain extent however I still have much work to do. Inspiration is always in the here and now.
No. 2b) What is Spirit for you?
Spirit, if you will, is the spiritual light, the creative machinery of the universe.
No. 3) When you are playing for yourself, creating, where does it take you? Where does your mind travel?
Always into a context of improvisation. All I know before we play is that we are going to reach areas where « light » will be felt as what I could call enlightenment. Actually, Spirit does not travel, it is everywhere, understands everything, it is rather “my conscience abandoning itself to spirit that is expanding.”
No. 4) Do you think music, visual arts and health are related and if so, how?
Everything is connected. Everything is through Spirit, God (all that is) life, all of this great creation is constantly at every moment in an active creative mode. We are all creators.
Each day, each one of us creates, be it music, be it visual, when you’re consciously in harmony with your spirit, you are automatically healthy. The 
small physical ailments are temporary. The Spirit has no ailments and the body is of the Spirit, therefore it is also Spirit. Any ailment is a lack of harmony. When we return to a state of harmony health again reappears.

No.1) Qu’est-ce que la musique pour toi?
La vie, tout ce qui est vie révèle une symphonie. Il faut s’arrêter un instant et l’écouter. Ce n’est pas tout le monde qui l’exprime sur un instrument conventionnel mais tout le monde joue, que ce soit avec un balai, un crayon, un tracteur, etc…
Tout le monde dans son cœur bat à un rythme : tu marches, tes paupières s’ouvrent, se ferment, tu parles, c’est du rythme et de la mélodie. Chacun a sa propre façon et chacun a une manière de faire que personne ne peut mettre le doigt dessus.
Pour moi, la musique garde mon côté enfant actif, me permet de travailler mon côté télépathique, rend mon moment présent profondément heureux!
No. 2) Qu’est-ce qui t’inspire?
L’ESPRIT : Avec l’esprit tout est possible et tout est inspirant.
À mes débuts, ce que je ressentais sur ma batterie c’était une joie profonde à laquelle se greffait un genre d’infirmité, il fallait donc que je m’éduque en écoutant les plus vieux avec leur grande expérience et en étudiant leur conception. J’ai compris que j’avais ma place et que c’est mon style qu’il fallait que je développe.
Avec le temps, je me suis ouvert jusqu’à un certain point, toutefois j’ai encore beaucoup de travail à faire. L’inspiration est au présent.
NO. 2B) Et l’Esprit, c’est quoi pour toi?
L’Esprit c’est la lumière spirituelle si on veut, l’activité de toute machinerie créatrice de l’univers.
No. 3) Quand tu joues pour toi-même ou tu crées, où est-ce que cela t’amène? Où voyage ton esprit?
Toujours dans un contexte d’impro. Tout ce que je sais avant de jouer c’est qu’on va atteindre des zones où la lumière se fera sentir d’une manière élévatoire. En fait l’esprit ne voyage pas, il est tout, il comprend tout, « c’est ma conscience à l’abandon de l’Esprit qui s’élargit. »
No. 4) Crois-tu que la musique, les arts visuels et la santé sont reliés? Si oui, de quelle façon?
Tout est relié. Tout est un grâce à l’Esprit, Dieu (tout ce qui est) la vie, sa grande création est constamment à chaque instant en mode créatif actif. Nous sommes tous des créateurs.
À chaque jour, chacun de nous crée, que ce soit musical, que ce soit visuel, lorsque tu es consciemment en harmonie avec ton Esprit, tu es automatiquement en santé. Les petits bobos physiques sont temporaires. L’Esprit n’a pas de bobo et le corps vient de l’Esprit donc il est aussi Esprit. Le bobo vient d’une mauvaise harmonisation. En s’harmonisant à nouveau la santé réapparaît!

I need to add something here. Alain is the one who in a sublte and gentle way led me back to painting which I had quit on for a good number of years. I did one of him and his friends and a new band they were forming and 
I found a name for the band as well: Up a Notch! Here’s that painting by the same name!
