RICHARD LE GENDRE, part 2! It is with great pleasure this last part of Richard’s article is presented. If you’ve read part one, you know how thought provoking it is and it continues below. Mr. Bassman himself has a lot to say. To use his own words: “Please just be careful when you look into my eyes, I’ve got that gaze that makes other people’s eyes flicker like a cinema projector…” Better believe it!
And now, part 2:
No. 5) When you are playing, how do you feel?
I feel the best I can be…All my senses are in synchronicity devoted as One…as I become Music. I feel like a Crystal, a Prism…
I feel in a trance …The Trance of LIFE.
Personally…I’ve been under a stage of trance since I was born…
My state of mind has always been somewhere in between the middle of being buried in the ground (gravity) and resurrecting flying with angels (grace)… And Music is like the crossroads between the living Realm and the Dead…
No. 6) Do you identify with your music and if so, on what
level?
I can only identify myself to Memory : Past, Present, Future…
The positions I take while on the space-time continuum grid can only be remembered…Past act begs pardon, Present forges in mutative transcendence so I can prepare for Future and it’s Total Recalls…The impacts left in my soul…should help me be in the right place if I’m wise and humble enough.
If a genetician would read my DNA code, it would most likely be a big Partition of notes… My ID is a musical score…
My passport for Telepathy, SynchroniCity and Resurrection (the big Recollection, yes we can say that god is Memory and memory is the marker of your cumulative effort to forgive or forget…in order to take care of your soul…do the rest of the math…and take it easy, it is cosmos after all and know one have seen it all…).
No. 7) When do you do your best work?
When there is space available I mean not just the physical space but also space in the minds of the listener…to use properly…nesting it so each performance permits hatching of soulfood for all…
Some generations are more attuned to create the perfect social conditioning’s to harbour the best music possible… But mostly then…where the atmospheric conditions allows to bear the best acoustics possible…only agglutinative substance for sound to manifest in our realm.
The laws of acoustic and silence are to be pledge at all instances. I can add a special mention for the moment of the day I like the best to compose and practice…which is between 4am and 6am…
No. 8) Does playing help you connect with your higher self, whatever that may be for you?
Life is the opportunity to connect with all next levels available…any soul will lurk for the next enhanced wisdom to experience life in the most enriching trance…
I wouldn’t count on music to give me the impression that I have got the highest level of endorsing and caring for life…Never.
Always remember that SugarTakesTime…and good wine too…
No. 9) Some people seem to think the school systems kills creativity, what is your opinion on this subject and if you agree, what could be a simple solution to the problem?
I never studied music in school because it is in me…I’m the school. The Teacher, the master, the guru and the student in the same frame…
I cannot escape from myself and use my intelligence to bring me tuition in all fields of activity in music… If I feel I can only blame myself for not
pushing in the right directions…
I totally agree that school can kill the spirit…and turn you into an automate ready to go for mainstream masses…
But I know there are a few rare birds that have escaped Alcatraz without any prejudice… A good example was my buddy Phil Clarke…of Jazz Pharmacy…a pure musical genius of our time… He made sure he wouldn’t get screwed by Scholar Minds and has kept a curious mind of his own…
I think that’s what is takes…curiosity…
So the solutions for any musical struggle is to keep on being curious…and learn not in a formative way but to become quick as the sound itself to assemble and give form to sound… as sound is the costume for the brain parade of our unconsciousness….
Be like a Child…as curious as can be… No expectations at all…
No. 10) You’ve just recorded an album, can you tell us a bit about it?
Well, We did launch «GROUNGE PEOPLE», all I can say about it…it is a very non-main-stream album…and yet it’s message is for all…
You have to buy it to get it…It’s the kind of album…your mind will take a lot of time to digest…because it is filled with unusual constructions.

For now…it is kind of like a Secret that no one has discovered yet because the attentions are elsewhere… But I’m sure this record will come out…in the future as a Forgotten Gem…
We conceived it as it was a treasure…you have to dug to get to gold we have put inside this islands of songs. The Meaning and Symbols float like atmospherical riddles…
But you should try it…because we put a lot of effort in making it as accessible as it could be…
I’ve tried it while driving some extra miles while in vacation in Arizona…and I can definitely say it is an album that makes your spirit Travel a lot…
Sorry, I have to leave I’m starting to hear the trumpets of Jericho!
