SIGAL RON lives in the coastal historic town of Zichron Jaacov, Israel.  Her studio overlooks the sea and she feels privileged to be there although there are harsh problems.  She holds optimistic thoughts and as she says:  “My learning of Buddhism helps me a lot!”

About her work as an artist, Sigal says:  “I have started in very conventional way.  It has taken me years of changes and metamorphosis to arrive to this stage. I believe in abstract art because it is a pure way of expression! Recently I have developed a personal way which I call Bimedia. It means painting and photographing as one work.  In my case painting is usually monoprint.  Photography takes the monoprint to a new level. I am constantly evolving new approaches to this idea.

Sigal, thank you for participating in this project.  I know you were  in theSIGAL RON sabina 059 midst of an exposition when we began this article, and I know all the stress involved in that.  So I sincerely appreciate your willingness to participate anyway and answering the following questions:

No.1)  What is art to and for you (personally and generally)

1-Art is for me is a process of creation as a force and a direction that take shape over a period of time .”process suggests a series of action,  changes and fluctuations. The results are less important than the “process” itself. It is my personal ART! Generally speaking- I don’t know.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 No. 2)  What inspires you?

2-Inspiration? I try not to be  inspired by the art of others, rather I look for it from materials I deal with and my previous works. One work brings me inspiration for next work.

No. 3)  When you are creating, painting, where does it take you?  I mean where does your mind (spirit) travel?

3- To no place, I am in my body and soul,  immersed in the work.

No. 4)  Do you think visual art, music and health are related and if so, how?

SIGAL RON 1 sabina 0124- Of course they are!  Music and visual arts are the key  to feeling well. Feeling good is the sign of positive thoughts and it contributes to strengthen immunity (provided that we don’t speak about depressed artist)

No. 5)  How do you feel when you are painting?

5-I am very concentrated, sometime stressed, but I feel alive.

No. 6)  Do you identify with your subject and if so, on what level, please elaborate?

6- Of course! I identify with my subject. One can’t create without identification. It is essential to good work.

On  second thought, this subject of identification-  when working there is a strong identification but later one has to look at it critically with some objectivity.  (It isn’t easy)

No. 7)  Under what conditions do you work best; night, day,SIGAL RON 2 sabina 007 alone, with others, in silence, with music, etc.?

7- I work every day when I can. The best time for me are the early morning hours when everyone is sleeping. This is the reason why some of my works are called “the Dawn”  I love music but when at work I prefer a quiet environment for better concentration.

No. 8)  Does painting help you connect with your higher self, whatever that may be for you?

8-I don’t know what this means! I feel some kind of elevation and satisfaction (when I feel some progress in my work)

No. 9)  How do you feel about creativity and the public school systems?

9-Public schools have much bigger problems then creativity .First they should fight violence!!!!!!!!!!

No. 10)  In your opinion, what could be a simple solution to improve creativity in the public school systems?

sigal ron 3 sabina 04310-In my country (Israel) there is too much creativity in all aspects so I am not concerned with creativity in public schools.

Again Sigal, thank you for doing this.  I hope your art show was a great success and until we work together again, my friend, be blessed!

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
