MACIEJ OSSIAN KOZAKIEWICZ, a wonderful artist from Poland, with his own unique style.  In his opinion every school system kills creativity. Only individuals defeat systems and remain themselves. Then, they are independent and creative and they are not influenced by their tutors. They follow their own path and that’s the way it should be.

Maciej, as promised, I am publishing your article once again because you were among the first participants when this site did not have many visitors.  And again, I want to thank you so much for participating in this project which I know has been difficult because of language.  But we’ve done just fine if I may say so.    Let us begin:

No. 1:  What is art for you and to you?

For me, art is a way of  living . This is my job. I show my fears, my thoughts in my works, it is also ‘writing’ of an autobiography.

No. 2 :  What inspires you?Ossian - selfportrait subiective

Everything that surrounds me. However, if I do not have an idea, I do not start painting.

No. 3:  When you are creating, painting, where does it take you?  I mean where does your mind travel?  Please elaborate.

I create whenever I can. This is my way of living. Art is my life and I spend every moment of it on creating art. First in my mind and then on a piece of paper. Music is a very important factor in my process of creating. I always listen to music when I’m painting.

No. 4:  Do you think visual art, music and health are related and if yes, please elaborate

Yes, if I understood you correctly, art in its broad meaning can influence the health and well being of a man. I heard that if we play classical music to our plants they grow much better and I believe in it.

No. 5: How do you feel when you are painting?

I don’t think about it. I just draw. I know that time losses its sense and properties and it doesn’t matter to me if it’s day or night.

Ossian -Looking fo new lands No. 6: Do you identify with your subject and on what level?

Of course, I identify with my subject because it’s a form of my diary, or rather my soul’s diary. I draw what I have experienced internally. Apart from that, my works are a form of  message.

No. 7: When do you do your best work?

I don’t have a favourite day or time to create.  It doesn’t depend on anything. Sometimes I paint at night, when an idea comes and I’m afraid that it will disappear.

No. 8: Does your art help you to connect with your higher self?

Art is my ‘Higher self’. There is nothing more to add.

No. 9: Do you think the school systems should put more emphasis on the creative process,  elaborate?

Every school system kills creativity. Only individuals defeat systems and remain themselves. Then, they are independent and creative and they are not influenced by their tutors. They follow their own path and that’s the way it should be.

About me;Ossian - Abraxas

I was born in the year …. .

It was winter, so windows were frosted over and everything was white.

When I was done sucking milk, I started crawling and observe the world through the window on the first floor; it was colourful.

I went to school, I grew up at the cinema, at the library, in church, in my aunts’ houses and with accidental friends.

I was gaining weight. My parents, like any other parents, were busy making money, so we were meeting on Sundays by the plate of chicken soup. Left on my own, I started to fight against the appearances.

I have been struggling to tear off the mask from the people and the world, but I still haven’t managed to.

When I was 15 I learnt to swim, and since then I’m swimming.

I have been drowning seven times so far and there is still a lot to happen

So, I drank, ate, slept, lied…

Ossian - Selfportrait subiective IISomewhere on the way I found time to learn English

Somewhere on the way I found time to understand the lyrics of the Stones and the Doors

Somewhere on the way I found time to read Milton, Plath, Cortazar, Marquez, Eco, Freud

Somewhere on the way I found time to buy a typewriter and start writing denunciations of the world.

Somewhere on the way I found time to tell my parents what’s on my mind

Somewhere on the way I found time to stop believe in God

Somewhere on the way I found time to start believe in God

Somewhere on the way I found time to love

Somewhere on the way I found time to hate

Somewhere on the way I found time to become indifferent

Somewhere on the way I found time to wrinkle my heart, my mind, even my face

But I have never found time to get to know why …

Maciej Ossian Kozakiewicz, thank you ever so much, it has truly been a pleasure!

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
