GUILLERMO HARNISCH’S TIERRA DEL FUEGO!

By likemindblog

Guillermo-relajacion

Guillermo became interested in music at a very early age and actually started studying music at the tender age of eight years old.  Originally from Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego, where he still resides today, he pursued his musical studies and participated in a variety of concerts in many different cities.  He is also a composer and is particularly fond of classical guitar which he teaches at the Faculty of Classical Guitar as well as privately.

Guillermo, welcome and thank you for participating in this project.  I appreciate the effort as well in translating into English.  I am aware of the difficulty in this.  Thank you for answering the following questions:

No. 1)  What is music to and for you (personally and generally)

Music for me is the greatest expression that any living being can express . It is (as I read an article from an interview with maestro Leo Brouwer) the most primal  art form of all  … With the music (and most of all by creating) one can express all sorts of feelings, even one can get that feeling … it is a very special chemistry … it is a unique moment … it is a special moment …

No. 2)  What inspires you?

Everything around us is an inspiration … when I play, create.  It is rewarding to be able to capture, express sounds that come from inside, from the human soul.  Even as a teacher, I often say that what comes from the heart is much better than just technical skills…

No. 2)  ¿Qué te inspira?

No. 3)  When you are playing, creating, where does it take you?  Where does your mind (spirit) travel?

I play and think in different places… But my favourite place to create is the bedroom of my house… When I’m in a new place, I try to capture what I feel and see, on my guitar… In my case, sometimes I attempt to let the music flow, to imagine the place or the feeling that I wish… In other cases I just turn  on “Play” (play) with the instrument, and without realizing it starts to take shape by itself… it is a magical and perfect moment

No. 3)  Cuando tocas, creas.

No. 4)  Do you think music, visual art and health are related and if so, how?Guillermo GUILOTE

Of course they are related …  visual arts are “more expressive” with music to accompany the scene you want to express, it is more understandable,  one feels himself a part of it at some point without realizing it … Many times you remember a scene in a movie by  the music composed for it …

The music, according to scientific studies, helps to “up” the mood, and thus the overall health …

No. 5)  How do you feel when you are playing for yourself versus performing for an audience?

These are two similar but very different feelings at the same time … One should play for an audience in the same way that one  plays in one’s own space … Although it is often difficult to achieve, because of nervousness, fear of making mistakes wrong, among many other feelings … But the ideal for me, as I said, is to play with the same relaxation as when I  play for myself …

No. 6)  Under what conditions do you work (play) best?

Particularly I think the best condition for work is when one is relaxed. Anyway, one of the virtues of music is that one can work in any condition, being angry, sad, angry, etc.. That’s the beauty of music.

No. 7)  Do you identify with your music and if so, on what level?

I identify with my music (on a very high level), my first compositions were related to a period, nostalgic in most cases, because I was away from my loved ones and  significantly younger (19) . In my latest compositions Guillermo 100_0165(mostly improvised)  I try to bring music to the ideas that spin in my head.

No. 8)  Does playing help you connect with your higher self, whatever that is for you?

I think we all communicate with something higher, not just performers, everyone.

No. 9)  How do you feel about creativity in the public school systems?

I think it’s a bit limited, since the government (speaking of public schools) should redesign the main topics to enhance students’ creativity. I remember when I was younger, I used to think of people’s needs  (especially street children) and I raised “The talent lost”, either by little (or no) access to education or the influence of some external agent  (diseases, drugs, etc..), or abandonment of the family.

No. 10)  In your opinion, what could be a simple solution to improve creativity in the public school systems?

Encouraging creativity of young people through competitions, exhibitions, do more locally and regionally , that is, creating a space for exchanging experiences and views between all participants (students and teachers)

No. 11)  How do you feel about improvisation in music?CARUCHA

Improvisation is something fantastic. It allows you to explore your feelings and sensations without thinking, brings out all the tools you (as an artist in general) have. It is something that is created in the moment, pure feelings, without much premeditation, based or not on any previous idea …

Thank you again, Guillermo, for sharing your thoughts and feelings and talent with us.  I wish you the best of success in all your endeavours, and until we work together again, be blessed!

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
