FRANCE RONDEAU’S DELIGHTFUL MADNESS!
Quebec’s own France Rondeau, a young artist of amazing talent. Her work is eclectic, because she never knows where an idea will lead her. For her, being an artist is first and foremost to create. Each day brings its inspiration and colors, and this, whether abstract, figurative, surrealist or cubist. What truly stimulates her when painting is being able to paint her emotions without censoring herself and capture the emotional flavor that she is experiencing in the present moment.
Surrealism is eternal and creating surreal is undoubtedly fueled by the life experiences of the artist. She derives much of the idea of her paintings directly in her dreams that are far from trivial. She created her own world, long ago. She loves everything that is unconventional and out of the ordinary.
France Rondeau :Jeune et talentueuse artiste du Québec! Ses œuvres sont éclectiques, car elle ne sait jamais où une idée va la conduire. Pour elle, être artiste c’est d’abord et avant tout créer. Chaque jour apporte ses inspirations et ses couleurs; et ce, qu’elles soient abstraite, figurative, surréaliste ou cubiste. Ce qui la stimule en peinture c’est d’arriver à peindre ses émotions sans se censurer et capturer la saveur émotive qu’elle vit dans le moment présent.
Le surréalisme est éternel et la création surréaliste est sans aucun doute alimentée par les
expériences de vie de l’artiste. Elle puise en grande partie l’idée de ses tableaux directement dans ses rêves qui sont loin d’être banals. Elle s’est créé son propre monde, il y a bien longtemps de cela. Elle aime tout ce qui n’est pas conventionnel et qui sort de l’ordinaire.

No. 1) What is art to and for you?
Art for me is a way of expressing subjects to are dear to my heart. Be it to express my opinion, share my vision of life or simply for the pleasure of painting one subject rather than another, art for me is the best way to express all of that at the same time!
No. 1) Qu’est-ce que l’art pour toi généralement et personnellement?
L’art est une façon de m’exprimer sur des sujets qui me tiennent à cœur. Que ce soit pour donner mon opinion, montrer ma vision de la vie ou simplement pour le plaisir de peindre un sujet plutôt qu’un autre, l’art est la meilleur façon selon moi pour exprimer tout ça à la fois.
No. 2) What inspires you?
Everything inspires me : my life, my family, my sorrow, my joy, society, things happening in the world and of course, artists I adore and who influence me a lot like Braque, Van dongen, Picasso, Acimboldo, Dali, to name a few.
No. 2) Qu’est-ce qui t’inspire?
Tout m’inspire; ma vie, ma famille, mes peines, mes joies, l’actualité, la société et bien sur mes influences artistiques qui passent par plusieurs peintres que j’adore ( Braque, Van dongen, Picasso, Acimboldo, Dali, pour ne nommer que ceux là )
No. 3) When you are creating, painting, where does it take you? Where does your mind (spirit) travel?
When I create sketches that later become paintings, I try to push back my own limits. I try to do something more than the time before and it leads me to think beyond the possible, that’s when my world is created.
On the other hand, when I paint, I lose all sense of my surroundings and get into my bubble, my world. It’s more of an intense concentration than a trip. I’m so absorbed in my painting that I am simply absent from anything else around me.
No. 3) Lorsque tu peins, tu crées, où cela t’amène-t-il? Où voyage ton esprit?
Quand je crée les esquisses qui deviendront des tableaux par la suite, j’essai de repousser mes propre limites. J’essai de faire quelque chose de plus que la fois d’avant et cela me porte à penser au delà du possible, c’est là que mon monde se crée.
Par contre, quand je peins, je perds la notion de ce qui m’entoure et j’entre dans ma bulle, mon monde. C’est plus une concentration intense qu’un voyage. Je suis à un tel point dans mon tableau que je suis absente pour le reste qui m’entoure.
No. 4) Do you think visual art, music and health are related and if so, how?
I think that is very closely connected. Painting or music can be an extraordinary outlet for anyone who needs it. I would even say that without knowing our emotions and troubles are expressed through them..
Let me explain by an experience I had: 13 years ago I experienced a shocking tragedy that threw me into my dark side. When I started painting four years later, my work always had a lot of blood, then less and less, up until the day when there wasn’t a single drop and that was also the last. I think my heart that day had finally healed had stopped bleeding, hurting. It’s art therapy.
No. 4) Crois-tu que les arts visuels, la musique et la santé sont reliés et si oui,
comment?
Je crois que c’est relié de très près. La peinture ou la musique peuvent être un exutoire extraordinaire pour quiconque en a besoin. Je dirais même que sans le savoir nos émotions et troubles y passent qu’ils le veuillent ou non.
Je m’explique par une expérience que j’ai vécu: Il y a 13 ans j’ai vécu une tragédie bouleversante qui m’a fait basculer dans mon côté obscure. Quand j’ai commencé la peinture 4 ans plus tard, mes tableaux avaient toujours beaucoup de sang, puis de moins en moins. Jusqu’au jour où il n’y eu qu’une seule goutte qui fut d’ailleurs la dernière. Je crois que ce jour là mon cœur avait fini par se cicatriser il avait fini de saigné , d’avoir mal. C’est de l’art thérapie.
No. 5) How do you feel when you are painting?
I feel good, I feel free and I paint who I really am without censorship. The more I paint who I am, the more special are my paintings.
No. 5 ) Comment te sens-tu lorsque tu peins?
Je me sens bien, je me sens libre et je peins vraiment qui je suis sans censure. Plus je peins qui je suis plus mes tableaux sont spéciaux.
No. 6) Under what conditions do you do your best work?
When ideas start merging in my mind I just have to paint as this is a very exciting moment and it translate into the painting. I like painting with in the afternoon light but I also like painting in front of an audience and evening with good lighting and a curious audience suits me better for this ha ha ha. Doing my best requires a lot of physical and mental energy as well. I am currently pregnant with my second boy at 5 weeks away from a new masterpiece ha ha ha so the energy is rarer now, and therefore making more difficult to paint for extended periods.
No. 6) Dans quelles conditions travailles-tu le mieux?
Quand les idées fusionnent dans ma tête il faut que je peigne car c’est un moment stimulant et cela parait dans le tableau, j’aime peindre avec la lumière d’après-midi mais j’aime aussi peindre devant public, à ce moment le soir me convient mieux avec un bon éclairage et un public curieux ha ha ha . Cela me prend aussi assez d’énergie physique et mentale pour être à mon meilleur. Je suis présentement enceinte de mon deuxième garçon à 5 semaines d’un nouveau chef d’œuvre ha ha ha alors l’énergie est plus rare en ce moment, donc plus difficile de peindre longtemps.
No. 7) Do you identifiy with your subject and if so, on what level?
I identify a lot with what I paint, it either represents a feeling, an expectation or an event that I am living or have lived. Several of my paintings t tell my life, like the one entitled Life Together represents me pregnant with my boy who is now 4 years old. La Femme au Recamier represents a moment in my life when I expected an event to unravel in a context that completely eluded me, which is why the subject is done in one style and the the setting in another.
The painting entitled Who am I represents parts of 6 men of different nationalities that I know, mixed together in one and strangely when we look at it, it looks like all of them. In other words,I could tell you a story about each painting each painting like this.
No. 7) Est-ce que tu t’ identifies à votre sujet et si oui, à quel niveau?
Je m’identifie beaucoup à ce que je peins, soit cela représente un sentiment une attente ou un évènement que je vis ou que j’ai vécu. Il y a plusieurs de mes toiles qui racontent ma vie, comme par exemple la toile la vie à deux me représente enceinte de mon garçon qui a maintenant 4 ans. La femme au Récamier représente un moment dans ma vie ou j’attendais un dénouement dans un contexte qui m’échappait, voilà pourquoi elle est peinte dans un style et que le reste du tableau (le décor) est dans un autre genre. Le tableau Qui suis-je représente une parcelle de 6 hommes de nationalité différente que je connais réunis dans un seul et étrangement quand on le regarde il leur ressemble tous. Bref je pourrais vous raconter chaque tableau comme ça.
No. 8 ) Does painting help you connect with your higher self, whatever that is for you?
I do not know if it allows me to contact something higher, but it allows me to act out any fantasy that I have in me and that really needs to get out, a sort of sweet madness ha ha ha ha!
No.8 ) Peindre te permet-il de contacter ton “Je” supérieur, quoi que cela puisse être pour toi?
Je ne sais pas si cela me permet de contacter quelque chose de supérieur mais cela me permet d’extérioriser tout cet imaginaire que j’ai en moi et qui a grandement besoin de sortir, une sorte de douce folie ha ha ha ha!
No. 9) How do you feel about creativity in the public school system?
I think being creative is good for psychological health and that there is room to bring more creativity in schools. It would certainly benefit students in their general subjects as well!
No. 9) Que penses-tu de la créativité au sein du système scolaire public?
Je crois que c’est bon d’être créatif pour la santé psychologique et qu’il y aurait plus de façon d’apporter de la créativité dans les écoles. cela serait surement bénéfique pour les élèves dans leurs matières en général.
No. 10) In your opinion, what would be a simple solution to improve the use of creativity in the public school systems?
In each area there should be a creative step, whether it be through the realization of an invention, a construction, or writing, painting, a recipe, a chemical process or whatever. We can be creative in many areas in school. You only need to give students the opportunity to practice what they are taught in theory.
No. 10) Selon toi, quelle pourrait être une solution simple pour améliorer la créativité dans le système scolaire public?
Dans chaque matière il devrait y avoir une étape créative, que ce soit par la réalisation d’une invention, d’une construction, d’une écriture, une peinture, une recette, un procéder chimique ou quoi que cela puisse être. Nous pouvons être créatifs dans plusieurs domaines à l’école. Il faut seulement leur laisser la chance d’essayer en pratique ce qu’ils leur apprennent en théorie.
No. 11) What do you hope to convey to your public through your art?
I want to share with them how I see life, my imagination and my sweet madness. People are curious to know why I painted such or such an artwork, so I explain that each one of my paintings has its own story, and the result they see has often been inspired by a moment. a life experience and even a dream.
No. 11) Qu’espères-tu communiqué ou transmettre à ton public par le biais de tes tableaux?
Je veux leur partager ma façon de voir la vie, mon imaginaire et ma douce folie. Les gens sont curieux de savoir pourquoi j’ai peins tel ou tel tableau, je leur raconte comment j’en suis arrivée au résultat qu’il voit, souvent parti d’un rêve, d’un moment ou d’une expérience de vie, chacun de mes tableaux a son histoire.
