EUGENIUSZ STEMPLOWSKI’S IMAGERY!

By likemindblog

ITS-ME~1

From Poland, another incredible talent whose enchanting art expands the mind of the beholder.  “I was born to a family where music was listened to frequently, and in difficult times both my parents were supplementing their modest income of office workers by giving private lessons in piano (my mother) and violin (my father).

One of my brothers is a professional musician (piano), my elder brothers kept tuning to jazz stations at the time when jazz was considered in Poland to be something subversive.  My interest in painting was also linked to music, in a different way, though. I kept listening to Willis Conover’s „Jazz Hour” and „Time for Jazz” on Voice of America. Radio Luxemburg was also popular. I started to identify „my” musicians and with the passing of time I dearly wished to get their photos and/or posters. At that time it was impossible here. So I tried to paint them. My first work was a portrait of Jimmy Hendrix. “painter

Eugeniusz, thank you so much for participating in this project and sharing your thoughts and your talent with us.

No. 1)  What is art (painting) to and for you?  (generally and personally).

I am just a humble painter, that’s all. I would not take it upon myself to offer a definition of  „art.” Let the academics do their job. For me, art is a way of expressing myself, and a way of life.

No. 2)  What inspires you?

An inspiration comes unexpected, sometimes uninvited… I have had my moments of experience in life, there is a lot to draw upon.

No. 3)  When you are creating, painting, where does it take you, I mean where does your mind (spirit) travel?

interpretationI do my best to concentrate on my actual piece of work … and all too often I am asking myself if anyone will buy my work.

No. 4)  Do you think visual art, music and health are related and if so, how do you see this?

Obviously enough, art is one great whole. However, while painting, I am not „seeing” any music, neither do I like watching videomusic. Art may be just one big entirety, but the senses are separate.

No. 5)  How do you feel when you are painting?

While painting I am living in my safe world.

No. 6)  Under what conditions do you do your best work ?

This is a fundamental question. The best conditions are those allowing for the highest concentration. By the way, I am not sure which of my work are the best.

No. 7)  Do you identify with your subject and if so, on what level?

Certainly. Each and every painting (except for the typically commercial ones) shows my thoughts, emotions… Some of the paintings are very personal, in fact they are exhibitionist point-blank.

No. 8) Does painting help you connect with your higher self, exit whatever that is for you ?

In theory, identity and activity remain in a feed-back connection.

No. 9)  How do you feel about creativity in the public school system ?

My own experience is negative. Schools were not cultivating my interests, they were suppressing my interests.

No. 10)  What could be a simple solution to develop creativity more in the public school systems?

I don’t think there is any simple solution… In my view, the ideal school amounts to the creative teachers who have broad horizons.

Eugeniusz, thank you once again for sharing your thoughts and your fascinating  art.  No matter how many times we look at any of your paintings, there’s is always something else to discover.

I was a pleasure doing this article with you and I sincerely appreciate it.  Until we work together again, keep well and be blessed!

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
