DANIEL DOMENGE’S PERFECT PATCHWORK!
From the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France’s vineyards, DANIEL DOMENGE is a world class guitarist who has been playing professionally for some 20 years. His self-released debut album PATCHWORK is a flawless recording of exceptional performances from all contributing musicians. The result is a musical patchwork featuring a touch of smooth jazz, funk, soul, Latin blues… in other words, great melodies and outstanding musical arrangements!
DANIEL DOMENGE, welcome and thank you for taking time in your very busy schedule to participate in this project and answering the following questions:

No. 1) What is music to and for you?
1)Music is addictive for me, it’s part of my daily life. It is the motor used to express emotions and interact with others, without which a feeling of guilt can easily surface. It’s comforting to know that its universe is vast and its exploration endless!
No. 2) What inspires you?
2) My main inspiration comes from “listening to music. I think the subconscious mind registers a lot of information, and gives us access to it (when it wants to), sometimes in abundance and these magical moments are moments of grace! … Sometimes only bits at a time … but then again if we
try to force inspiration, same thing happens as happens with writers, we get the “blank page” syndrome…
No. 3) When you are playing, creating, where does it take you? Where does your mind travel?
3) It is the perpetual search for the “Wellness”!
No. 4) Do you think music, visual arts and health are related and if so, how?
4) Yes I think all art forms are related, they have much in common and have a therapeutic effect, the artist expresses his emotions through his art and hopes to touch the public, and when it works, we can speak of a balance.
No. 5) How do you feel when you are playing for yourself, not performing?
5) Times alone with the instrument are valuable, the mind is open to research and to the deepening of knowledge. These moments are also a important to relax without external pressures …
No. 6) Do you identify with your music and if so, on what level?
N ° 6) I love the simple things in life, a good meal with friends or family, walks in nature, and in my music I try to keep this state of mind.
No. 7) When do you do your best work?
N ° 7) My week is busy with classes in music school, I find moments of relaxation, rather in the evening and I use that time to practice, or deepen my knowledge. During school break, when I have no classes to teach, I can focus on my projects a lot more with a clear mind!

No. 9) What is jazz for you? Why jazz?
N ° 9) I do not consider myself a jazz musician, I am very influenced by jazz and I listen a lot, it’s music that inspires me, I love the concept of improvisation in jazz, the richness of harmonies, which I call “colors” (like a painter with his palette) …

No. 1) Qu’est-ce que la musique pour vous?
1) La musique a sur moi un effet de dépendance, elle est partie intégrante de ma vie au quotidien , elle est mon “moteur” et véhicule mes émotions et favorise les échanges , à la moindre relâche un sentiment de culpabilité peut s’installer …Il est plaisant de savoir que son univers est vaste , et son exploration est infinie !
No. 2) Qu’est-ce qui vous inspire?
2) Ma principale source d’inspiration est due à “l’écoute de la musique”, je pense que le subconscient enregistre beaucoup d’informations, et nous les délivrent (quand il veut bien) parfois en abondance et ces moments “magiques” sont des moments de grâce ! parfois par bribes…mais si nous cherchons à forcer l’inspiration, comme l’écrivain nous faisons face à la “page blanche”…
No. 3) Lorsque vous jouez, où est-ce que cela vous amène, où
voyage votre esprit?
3) c’est la perpétuelle recherche du “Bien être” !
No. 4) Croyez-vous que la musique, les arts visuels et la santé sont reliés?
4) Oui je pense que toutes les formes d’arts sont liées, elles ont beaucoup de points en communs et ont un effet thérapeutiques, l’artiste fait passer ses émotions à travers son art et espère toucher le public, et quand cela fonctionne, on peut parler d’un équilibre .
No. 5) Comment vous sentez-vous quand vous jouez pour vous-même?
5) Les moments d’isolement avec l’instrument sont précieux, l’esprit est ouvert à la recherche et à l’approfondissement de ses connaissances, ce sont aussi des moments de détente importants , sans pressions externes…
No. 6) Est-ce que vous vous identifiez à votre musique et si oui, à quel niveau?
N°6 ) J’aime les choses simples de la vie , un bon repas entre amis ou en famille , des ballades en natures , et dans ma Musique j’essaie de garder cet état esprit .
No. 7) Dans quelles conditions faites-vous votre meilleur travail?
N°7) Ma semaine étant bien remplie par les cours en école de Musique, je trouve des moments de détente, plutôt en soirée et j’en profite pour pratiquer , ou approfondir mes connaissances.
Pendant les vacances scolaires, je n’ai pas de cours à donner et je me consacre beaucoup plus à mes projets , l’esprit libre !
No. 8) Est-ce que la musique vous aide à vous “connecter” à votre “Je supérieur” pour ainsi dire?
N°8) Quand cela arrive, c’est une sensation très agréable , on aimerait que cela fonctionne à tous les coups…
No. 9) Le jazz, qu’est-ce que cela représente pour vous? Pourquoi le jazz?
N°9 ) Je ne me considère pas comme un Musicien de Jazz , Je suis très influencé par le Jazz et j’en écoute beaucoup , c’est une musique qui m’inspire , J’aime le concept d’improvisation dans le jazz, la richesse des harmonies , que j’appelle” des couleurs” ( comme un peintre avec sa palette)…
