CHARLEM-1 HOME PAGE

CHARLEM LEPEINTRE, was born in 1982 and grew up between the Iles-de-la-Madeleine and the Laurentians in the Province of Quebec Canada.   “Very young I was introduced to the arts and to travel, says Charlem. I studied drama, visual arts, adventure tourism and eco tourism, as well as welding assembly. I traveled in Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica and I have been a kayaking guide in the Islands for 3 years.  I also began hosting television shows: “Not too much art, ” thirty visual arts programming, “Destination Laurentides” 41 issues on tourism and then my last set in 2009, “The major trails “12 episodes on National Parks of Quebec issued at Vox.”

During those years I made ??more than twenty solo and group exhibitions. I won the “Environmental Initiative”for having cleaned up the banks of the River of the Thousand Islands more than 40 miles, then I was spokesperson for social involvement of the Youth Forum of the Laurentians. For four years I represent emerging artists to promote culture and I created the manifest: Displays your culture, to generate a better display of cultural events. In 2010, I realized the biggest star of the story solo, a work of 360m, entitled “Land of Hope, at Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal. This work represents a world tour of terrestrial biodiversity. Today I continue to expose and I am preparing a draft law for the involvement of youth in schools, and a journey of inspiration in Latin America.

My biggest exhibition of the year will be held soon in Rosemere from May CHARLEM 2 SANS TITRE 20th to the 29th at the Hamilton House, with more than fifty paintings exhibited. I will also create a huge mural hung between the trees to mark the International Year of the forest.

Charlem, welcome and thank you for participating in this project.  You are quite a busy young man, very much involved in your community and it is wonderful to see what a good role model you are for the youth!  I sincerely appreciate your answering the following questions:

No. 1)  What is art to and for you (personally and generally)

For me, art is an expression of the heart and mind,
it is a  mature reflection of  imagination.
Art brings to humanity a different perspective on society,
it contributes to the development of new ideas and stimulates evolution.
In my personal life, art helps me live intensely.
Where creativity and passion become internal forces,
they mingle with desire and always generate something interesting.

No. 2)  What inspires you?

What inspires me in life is the great mystery of existence.
We are very small in such a immense universe that we are just beginning to discover.  It is often said that truth is stranger than fiction and I think that’s true.  Such immensity can only contain unexpected wonders.
Alchemy remains for me an essential voice and my dreams are another everyday reality that influences my creations.

No. 3:  When you are creating, painting, where does it take you?  Where does your mind (spirit) travel?

Having had many out of body experiences , Painting  revealed itself to me as an excellent medium for imaging the astral world.  My mind wants to transcend the other dimensions, it seeks the atomic unity of all things.
When I paint, it is the reality of another world which finds its voice through the image.  I often see dreams buried deep in my subconscious memory. This is the real work that I pursue in my practice.

No. 4)  Do you think painting, music and health are related, and if so, how?

Art contains several disciplines, but it first forms a whole which is human nature.  Music and painting go together well, it helps mental and emotional health.  Without painting we never would have had an image of our past, without music our soul  would be a sad.  If we had to share something with  people from other worlds, I believe that music is one of the most beautiful invention that could be shared.

No.5)  How do you feel when you are painting?

When I paint, I often remember the great masters.  I have the conviction of making the right choice for my life. I know that this moment is real and unique, it is also a time of searching and listening.  I draw inner resources often unexplored to spontaneously create and give life to a painting, which will remain frozen  in time.  Painting gives me a sense of freedom and expression that speaks without words.

CHARLEM MURAL 2No. 5)  Comment te sens-tu lorsque tu peins?

No.6)  Under what conditions do you  do your best work?

One can ponder long to be inspired to do  meaningful work, but when that moment arrives, one should take advantage of it and put everything else aside to devote oneself to art. To create adequate conditions, I make sure I am not disturbed, to maximize my concentration.  I listen to my creative intuition and let myself be guided, I love to paint to good music.  I open the horizons of my imagination and I listen to the voice inside that absorbs me in a particular vision. This is often another dimension that is revealed and I must remain alert to render it well.

No. 6)  Dans quelles conditions fais-tu ton meilleur travail?

No. 7)  Do you identify with your subject, and if so, on what level?CHARLEM Le parcour de l'initié

The subject of my work represents the journey of the inner self . It is clear that it represents me to  a certain point.  I’m mostly influenced by the evolution of the soul on earth and I feel it travels regularly in the astral realm.  That’s why I choose to paint this subject that is important to me. Perhaps art has an answer that science has yet to discover. I tend to believe that there is far beyond  our earth, a large community of stellar travelers . It would be foolish to think we are unique in that vast space and I prefer to travel with my mind, rather than in a metal vessel, which could certainly run out of gas! The art I create illustrates the path of my mind in the universe and I thank life for having this openness to the world.

No. 8)  Does painting help you connect with your higher self, whatever that is for you?

Painting is a medium that puts me in touch with my spirituality and I think it helps me evolve in a concrete way.  Painting is also being a philosopher and a creator. Creating stimulates vitality, imagination, will and all this makes me grow in a long series of achievements.

No 9)  What do you think of creativity in the public school system?

Today we try to transform our young for the industry, which is completely ridiculous in my opinion. Often overlooked are the primary qualities of children to make them into models of  obedience and  without color. With the decline of art programs and sports in schools, it significantly limits the expressiveness of students, which creates serious attention deficits. We need young people to express themselves and enjoy their creativity to learn to think and solve problems. Even Einsten found that imagination was more important than knowledge. This is the basis of all human inventions, so in my opinion  this amazing quality should be enhanced.

No. 10)  In your opinion, what could be a simple solution toCHARLEM A SANS TITRE improve creativity in the public school system?

It is first necessary that young people do more sports, a good hour a day, when they arrive in the morning.  They will have a better attention and their energy will be more creative and less constrained by the lack of action.
We must also use their ideas to solve community problems and make them aware of their environment.  Let them garden and connect them to the earth, not just computers. They will find in these exercises  healthier creativity that is to channel. Creativity is at the service of humanity, they need more time to use that power which is  the engine of evolution!

Charlem, thank you again for sharing with us your thoughts and feelings so generously.  Until our path cross again, I wish you all the best in your upcoming show and in all your endeavours.  Be blessed!

About

My name is Michele Andree. I am an artist, I paint musicians in action. I think I’m a musician at heart, my instrument being… a brush, so I play…brush and I paint… music.
I love jazz. I call it freedom music. It promotes special values. I love intelligent people and good conversations.

Some people ask me how music relates to art. Personally I find they go hand in hand. Music is what turns me on to painting. It makes me see colours
